Props Notes (PLEASE DATE)

3/01/08:  We will be using 3 Victorian chairs that Marin has, and a cabinet of Marin's facing backward for the "pulpit."

1/14/08: We are looking for a podium and 1 pew or, alternatively, a few period chairs.

Script Notes (PLEASE DATE)

1/12/08: Casondra has a rough rough draft of a "script" for people. (This is not a linear narrative, so it is really more a collection of lines.

Cady Stanton has substantial lines, and Mott has a few lines. Most people will have 1, 2, 3 lines.

Very little memorization will be needed. Stanton can read most of her lines from her podium.

Marin and I will e-mail each group instructions for dialogue/lines. Overall, we will be doing a lot of physical and vocal improvisation from character motivation, so you will have VERY LITTLE IF ANY PRECISE MEMORIZATION. Emphasis is going to be on strong body language and gesture, because we are laying a sound concept over your voices. This has to do with the intention of the piece, plus audio, technical, and spatial considerations of the site-specific location.

At the beginning of each shoot, we will take some time to refine this characterization. However, I hope you have all been enthusiastically researching your characters so you can internalize them. I encourage you to take a little time each day to “”BE” your character as you navigate your world. Think about how s/he would move, BREATHE, smile, scowl, embrace others or keep them at a distance. Where would s/he carry her energy? Would s/he speak from her/his sinus cavities, throat, heart chakrah, belly, or pelvic girdle? Would s/he stomp or float through space? HAVE FUN GETTING TO KNOW YOUR CHARACTER, and take your character INTO YOUR BODY. This is the best way to prepare for your shoot.

The Women’s Rights National Historic Park web site has info on most of your characters:

http://www.nps.gov/wori/

1/14/08: Georgia has a friend who is a voice coach. Anyone interested?
